MINDFUL MOMENT 2003 08 03 - Why wait to celebrate? I still find it hard to believe, but this coming week my son will turn one year old! Naturally, this is cause for great celebration at our house! Think for a moment about what YOU celebrate at YOUR house. If you are like most people, you celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and religious holidays. There are also the "special occasions" : All of these events are certainly worthy of celebration, but my question to you is, "Why wait?" "Why wait to celebrate?" Why not be in a constant state of celebration? That is what knowing my expiry date has done for me. It has forced me to accept life for the gift that it is and to celebrate each moment. In the morning, I celebrate the day for what it can be. In the evening I celebrate the day for what it was. I strongly urge each of you to do likewise. If you open your eyes tomorrow, celebrate the day that you've been given. If you are married, don't wait until your wedding anniversary to celebrate your marriage, celebrate it every day. (Just a note, I have discovered that this practice doesn't mean that you get out of buying a gift on the actual date of your anniversary!) If you have children, don't wait for their birthdays, celebrate them each and every day. Don't wait for the next wedding or funeral to see that cousin or aunt, do it now! This past week, I had a friend give me a gift for no reason - he just saw a CD that made him think of me, so he got it for me. Just because. I really treasure that and his gesture meant the world to me! You are probably familiar with the Latin phrase "Carpe Diem" which means "Seize the day". I think this is a great motto, but I would add another part. "Celebre Diem" or "Celebrate the Day". ENJOY NOW! Copyright (c) 2003-2004, all rights reserved. ©MMVII - Patrick Mathieu Unlimited.
